The client needed a platform that could automate the full procure-to-pay cycle while integrating seamlessly with existing accounting tools like Zoho Books and Tally — tools finance teams were already using and unwilling to abandon.

NeoCFO's mission was clear: flip the ratio. Give finance teams back their time so they could spend 80% on meaningful insights instead of manual entry.

Mapped the AP workflow at 3 types of businesses — manufacturing, professional services, and retail. Documented every manual step, identified 14 distinct points of friction we could automate, and validated priorities with the client before touching architecture.

Multi-Tenant SaaS + OCR Pipeline Design

Designed multi-tenant SaaS architecture to support multiple organisations in one deployment. Defined the OCR pipeline (image to structured data using Python + AI), and planned the full integration layer for Zoho Books, Tally, and the GST government portal.

Build

6-Month Development Sprint

Six months of focused development across the AP engine, vendor portal, GST module, forecasting, and reporting. Built in React (frontend), Node.js (API), PostgreSQL (financial data), and Python (OCR and ML forecasting). Parallel workstreams kept delivery on schedule.

Integration

Connecting to the Accounting Ecosystem

Built the Zoho Books API integration (two-way sync), Tally XML connector for legacy accounting systems, and the Government GST Portal API integration. Each connector tested against real transaction data with edge case handling baked in.
